THE LIVING BIBLE
When comparing the Living Bible with the King James Version, we must first understand that the Living Bible is a paraphrase. When Dr. Kenneth Taylor was having trouble getting his children interested in family devotions, he decided to put the Bible in his own words.
The fact is, it is a great heresy for Dr. Taylor to even call his paraphrase a Bible, God's Word. Kenneth Taylor did not take the time to translate the Living Bible from the Greek and Hebrew Text. Instead he used the American Standard Version of 1901 as his basis. Dr. Taylor has used thought translation or "dynamic equivalent" - what he thought it should say. It is one thing to find interpretation of God's Word in a commentary or sermon, or even as a footnote to a study Bible. It is another thing to write down what you think God is saying in your own words, have it sent away to a publisher, have Holy Bible stamped on the cover, and allow it to be sold along side other Bibles. This is certainly wrong.
